Due to the Osceola County executive order mandating all Osceola residents ‘stay-at-home’ as of Thursday evening, the Osceola Council on Aging will not be hosting a food pantry next week.  At this time, and for the safety of our residents, we are not scheduled to offer any additional Food Pantry events throughout the duration of this mandate which is expected to conclude on April 9.  Please check our website and social media pages for any future events scheduled after the 9th of April.

PRESS RELEASE:

MULTIPLE ORGANIZATIONS IN THE OSCEOLA COUNTY COMMUNITY COMING TOGETHER TO HELP THOSE IN NEED WITH FOOD AT OSCEOLA HERTIAGE PARK DRIVE-THRU PANTRY

WHO:   The Osceola Council on Aging, Community Hope Center, Salvation Army, St. Cloud Food Pantry, City of Kissimmee, Osceola County and Second Harvest Food Bank coordinate Drive-Thru Pantry

 WHAT:   The Osceola Council on Aging, Community Hope Center, Salvation Army, St. Cloud Food Pantry, City of Kissimmee, Osceola County and Second Harvest Bank coming together to hand-out food to those who are experiencing hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. The residents will drive-thru and collect food and fresh veggies on-site through the drive-thru food pantry at the Osceola County Stadium in Kissimmee. Plus, Osceola Heritage Park and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Dept. will donate their services to help these organizations during the event. These organizations were seeing the need and came together to help those who are stressed and worried about putting food on their tables, so these organizations are working together to make Osceola County a safe and healthy community.

WHERE:   Osceola County Stadium at Osceola Heritage Park, 631 Heritage Park Way, Kissimmee, FL 34744

WHEN:   Thursday, March 26, 2020 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

 PHOTO/INTREVIEW OPP.:   Over 300 to 500 families experiencing hardship during the CORVID-19 pandemic from all over Osceola County can receive food that is provided by these organizations through a drive-thru system outside the Stadium by staff and volunteers as they load cars with non-perishable food items and fresh vegetables, and more.

Letter From Our CEO:

Our hearts go out to everyone who has been personally impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). As always, the Osceola Council On Aging is committed to doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our employees, volunteers and the Osceola residents needing our services.

As of today, we will continue our Adult Day Care, Building Strong Families (Energy Assistance), Weatherization, In-Home Services and Nutrition programs, including Meals on Wheels. Our Food Pantry will be open tomorrow, Thursday, March 19, between 1:30 and 3:30 pm, at 700 Generation Way, Kissimmee. We are offering a drive-thru option for those visiting our Food Pantry.

The World Health Organization continues to recommend social distancing and good hygiene to best protect yourself against infection. We will be opening the Osceola Council on Aging Food Pantry on Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.  For health reasons and to avoid large gathering we will be doing as a drive thru pick up.  Please, be sure to have proof of County residency in order to be able to receive this help.

The Osceola Council on Aging will be updating this page as we receive new information, you can also check the Florida Department of Health in Osceola County page, http://osceola.floridahealth.gov/.

As precautionary measures, the Osceola Council on Aging will be limiting the number of visitors coming in and out of the building until further notice.

All precautionary measures are being made to ensure our seniors and staff are safe.

We are currently following protocols from the Florida Department of Health and other Federal Agencies in regard to next steps.
