How Would We Get Along Without Them?

Osceola County, FL: The Osceola Council on Aging’s Volunteer Center will be rolling out the ‘red carpet’ to community R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) volunteers for the annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration. The luncheon and program will be held on Friday, April 23 with seating beginning at 11am. Seating is limited so volunteers from the more than 50 volunteer stations in Osceola County are encouraged to register prior to the April 12 deadline. The event will be held at the Barney E. Veal Center. The theme for this year’s event will be ‘The Academy Awards of Volunteers’ with top volunteers receiving ‘Oscars’ for their contributions of time, energy and enthusiasm improving Osceola County’s quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
More than 1,600 volunteers contribute their time supporting non profit organizations, government agencies and hospitals performing an array of duties from welcoming families to Give Kids the World, reassuring loved ones at Osceola Regional Medical Center, delivering food and friendship with the Meals on Wheels Program, assisting the County’s Emergency Management Office or helping at one of more than 15 food pantries.
“There is just no way that we could provide the services to our community without the dedication and commitment of our volunteers,” states Connie Bellanceau, Director of the Volunteer Center. “April is National Volunteer Month and it is our time to demonstrate our appreciation to these outstanding individuals,” Bellanceau continued. To register for the event or for information on how you can volunteer to make a difference in your community, contact the Volunteer Center at 407-933-9525.
